We recently held a Phase Plant patch design contest as part of the Phase Plant 6th Anniversary celebrations. The rules were simple: design a “playable” preset using no more than six modules in each section, with a few caveats, of course.
We received a wide range of entries in different styles and spent the past few days debating which six should take the top spots. Winners receive a $60 coupon and six Content Banks of their choice.
It wasn’t easy, but we eventually settled on the following presets as the most fun to play with on a keyboard while still staying within the contest rules.
In no particular order:
- Otros Tiempos Pad by Gonzalo
- Gritty Six by Andrew Van Buren
- The Sixth Dune of Arrakis by Ferenc Bátri (AKA Fex)
- SecondHandSynth by Moritz Zitzmann (AKA N:OEL)
- Limbo by Damian (AKA Grim Sonus)
- 6 Petal Metal Orchid by emily (AKA emilyavi)
All winners have been contacted by email to arrange their prizes. Congratulations!
In the video below, George takes each of the winning presets, and some honorable mentions, for a spin.

Honorable Mentions
We’d also like to give a shoutout to a few entries that came very close to the top six:
- 666 by Piotr Bendyk (AKA XTD)
- 666 Comp MPE by Caleb Bird (AKA Biobird)
- Harmonic Hands by Albina
- Happy Plucking Birthday by Stu (AKA Humjunkie)
These were excellent entries, but we had to make some tough choices. To everyone who entered but didn’t win, thank you! Keep designing incredible sounds, and stay tuned for more opportunities to show off your skills as we continue developing tools to turbocharge your sound design workflow.
Thanks again for all the Phase Plant Anniversary love. Here’s to another year of epicness. The future sounds great!
